Login Instructions

If you are an existing user in the Q&A application and want to login to the new version of the application, please follow these instructions.

Step 1 - Try to Login

If you had an account with the original ask.elmershack.com system - then the first step is to try to login as you would in that system.  If you used OpenID in the original - then try to login using OpenID in the new application.  If you used a username and password then try that.

Hopefully at this point you've been successful, however there are a few scenarios where this would fail.  

Important! - If you try to login with OpenID - and then are asked to register a new user - the open id login was NOT SUCCESSFUL!  Please go to step 2.

Step 2 - Try a temporary login

If you weren't successful in logging in as normal, then the next thing to do is request a temporary login.  Go to this page:

You'll be asked for your email address, which you hopefully had given in the first application.  You'll receive an email which will allow you to login and change your authentication credentials.  On that page - you can choose to update your Open ID credentials  -OR- you can give a password -OR- login via twitter (facbook login is coming).

If the application doesn't recognize your email - then you'll have to do step 3.

Step 3 - Send an Email for Help

If in step 2 you weren't successful in getting a temporary login then you'll need to email for help.  Please contact me at support@elmershack.com.  Please include in your email the username you had in the original application (if you can remember it) or some information that will help me identify the right user.  I'll link up the user if I can and put your email address on the account so that you can get a temporary login and provide new credentials.
