Your ham radio mentor,
always on frequency.

ElmerShack is the AI-powered dashboard built for hams of every license class. Live band conditions, a full QSO log, signal maps, and equipment tracking — all in one pane of glass — with Elmer, a personal AI advisor who actually knows your rig, your antenna, and what the bands are doing right now.

Free during beta · No credit card · No commitment
A quick walkthrough of the shack.
🤖 Elmer · personal AI mentor · 📡 Physics-backed band conditions · 🗺️ Live signal & QSO maps · 3D globe · 📋 Full QSO log · ADIF · QRZ sync · 📻 Equipment-aware advice
One pane of glass Everything you need to operate, on one screen.

Solar, propagation, your log, your maps, your gear, your awards. Drag any card to move it, drag a corner to resize, click ✕ to hide it. Your layout follows you across devices.

The full ElmerShack dashboard packed with cards arranged in a customisable grid: Callsign Lookup, Scratch Pad, Propagation Highlights with 20m as the recommended band, Solar Conditions showing SFI 156, sunspots 137, K-index 3, MUF 22.4 MHz, Band Conditions for every HF and VHF band with colored progress bars, Solar Forecast with K-index by hour, QSO World Map with band-colored dots, Recent QSOs table, QSO Statistics 66 QSOs and 20 DXCC, DX Cluster, WAS Progress, DXCC Progress, and Grid Squares.
The default dashboard. Every card moves, resizes, or hides.
Lookup Callsign lookup, log in one click Type any callsign and pull a full QRZ or HamQTH lookup — name, QTH, grid, license class, photo. The "Log QSO" button turns the lookup into a pre-filled log entry.
Propagation Best band right now A physics-backed model (IRI-2020 with sporadic-E and storm modifiers) rates every band from 160m to 70cm, then recommends one to operate — so you don't have to read tea leaves.
Solar Live solar & space weather SFI, K-index, A-index, X-ray flux, solar wind, and Bz — pulled directly from NOAA SWPC and refreshed automatically. Plus a 3-day forecast with hourly K-index bars.
Bands Mode-aware band conditions Switch between SSB, CW, FT8, FT4, FM and RTTY — the per-band scores update because what's marginal on SSB might be wide open on FT8.
Maps QSO map, Signal map, 3D globe Plot every contact you've logged, see live PSK Reporter signals from around the world, and spin a self-hosted CesiumJS globe with great-circle paths.
Stats QSOs, DXCC, WAS, grids Total QSOs, by-band and by-mode breakdown, DXCC entities worked, all 50 states, every Maidenhead grid — updated the moment you log a contact.
Log QSO log with tags & filters Manual entry, ADIF import (WSJT-X, JS8Call, fldigi), ADIF export, QRZ sync — plus tags so one logbook handles contests, special events, portable ops, and everything else.
Equipment Your shack on file Add your radios, antennas, and accessories once. Pair an antenna to a radio. Pick which gear you used on every QSO. Elmer reads from this whenever you ask him a question.

Meet Elmer.
The mentor every ham deserves.

In ham radio, an Elmer is the experienced operator who takes a newer ham under their wing. ElmerShack's Elmer is exactly that — except he's available 24/7, knows your specific station, and doesn't get tired of explaining things.

Ask him anything. "What band should I try?" "Why is 20m noisy tonight?" "Can I work that DX with my 100W and an EFHW?" "What does my K-index of 5 mean for tomorrow?" He answers using your data, not a generic handbook.

What Elmer reads on every message
  • Your callsign, grid, and local time
  • Your license class and TX privileges
  • Every radio, antenna, and accessory you've added
  • Which antenna is paired to which radio
  • Live solar & band conditions from NOAA SWPC
  • Physics-backed propagation forecast for your QTH
  • Live PSK Reporter activity by band
  • Your recent QSOs and overall log profile
Private and secure. Elmer runs server-side. When you send a message, ElmerShack assembles your context from your account and sends it with your message to Anthropic's Claude API for a response. Your data isn't sold or shared. QRZ and HamQTH credentials are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM. You can clear your Elmer chat history any time from inside the app.

Hard rules baked into Elmer's prompt: never recommend transmitting outside your license privileges, never invent propagation explanations, never guess when live data is unavailable.

Elmer chat: in response to 'Given current band conditions and my antenna, what's my best shot at working Japan tonight?', Elmer recommends 20m FT8 around 14.074 MHz, citing the operator's EFHW, JA window timing, F2 propagation, and PSK Reporter activity for Japan from the operator's grid
A real Elmer answer — antenna-aware, band-aware, frequency-specific.
Elmer chat panel empty state: greeting 'Hello W5HAM, I'm Elmer!' with suggested first questions: What band should I try right now? · Explain the K-index to me · How do I make my first HF contact? · What is FT8 and should I try it? · How do I improve my signal reports?
Suggested starter questions — perfect for new hams.
More inside the shack

A real radio dashboard, not a marketing one.

Every feature below is live in the beta today. The bigger list — with screenshots and detail — lives on the features page.

🤖

Elmer AI mentor

Personal advisor built on Claude. Answers in your station's context — your gear, your grid, your license, current conditions — and stays inside your TX privileges by design.

🔲

Customisable dashboard

Drag, resize, or hide every card. Your layout saves to your account and follows you across devices. Built on react-grid-layout.

📡

Physics-backed bands

IRI-2020 ionospheric model, sporadic-E overlay, storm modifiers, and +1h / +6h / +24h / +72h horizons. PSK Reporter as the empirical safety net.

☀️

Solar & space weather

SFI, K, A, X-ray, solar wind, Bz — straight from NOAA SWPC. Plus a 3-day forecast with hourly K-index bars and day/night band predictions.

📋

QSO log & tags

Manual entry, ADIF import (WSJT-X / JS8Call / fldigi / generic), ADIF export, QRZ sync — including multi-logbook routing by tag. Filter by band, mode, tag, equipment, or date.

🗺️

QSO map & signal map

Plot every contact on a band-colored map. Watch live PSK Reporter spots from the world. Switch flat tiles for a self-hosted CesiumJS 3D globe.

📻

Equipment profile

Radios, antennas, and accessories. Pair antennas to radios. The antenna physics engine derives resonant bands from wire length so Elmer knows what your EFHW can actually do.

📖

Reference & CW practice

Q codes, NATO phonetic alphabet, US band plan, RST guide — all built in. Plus a CW practice tool: type any text, hear it in Morse from 5 to 30 WPM at any tone from 400 to 1000 Hz.

📱

Mobile-friendly

Bottom tab bar, slide-out menu, the dashboard reflows for small screens. Add to your home screen on iOS or Android for a quick-launch app.

Roadmap

In development.

Honest about what's not done yet. Here's what's actively being built.

In development

POTA / SOTA workflow

A full Parks on the Air and Summits on the Air activator + hunter workflow, with awards tracking and clean ADIF/CSV exports. Very early stages — not yet usable in the beta.

After beta

Native iOS / Android apps

The web app is mobile-friendly today and can be added to your home screen. Native app-store apps come after the beta wraps.

Planned

Real-time WSJT-X import

Today you import ADIF files from WSJT-X. Real-time UDP capture from WSJT-X is on the list — auto-log every decode without exporting.

Planned

DX alerts & watchlists

Watchlist a DXCC entity or callsign and get notified when it shows up on the cluster.
